Hi Tom,

I know how much you are in to your photography and cameras. Sorry to disapoint but I am using my PHONE CAMERA - Nokia N958GB.

Takes great close up pictures for my work but not ideal for distance. I take close to 200 pics per week.

I am not complaining about your route the directions and detail are exceptional. I am not a mathematician but I am certain for every 1 foot downhill it was 60 foot uphill!! Gues you are young and superfit unlike some of us old codgers.

Fascinating to follow your adventures Don. Sorry about the hills - I admit that some people I cycle with seem to interpret my definition of "rolling" as "mountainous". It's all in the eye of the beholder and dont forget that the downhills must mathematically add up to the uphills! The only other thing I can say in my defence is that other routes to Paris I've seen described use the Seine Valley where the tough hills definitely make these look rolling by comparison!

I agree - it surely is not beyond the wit of man to come up with some system that cuts back on use of plastic - look at all the stuff you buy, covered ijn lastic and then as soon as you open it you dump it in the bin. What a crazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzy world we live in

I don't know what the craze is with plastic bags with our grocers. All the deliveries come in plastic. I would be fine if they delivered it in crates and I left the crate out next time for pickup even if I had to pay a deposit.

Very funny - and comprehensive !

I have no time for all this Health and Safety stuff and continue to refuse to wear a helmet while out riding my bike in the woods, regularly consume food way past its sell-by date and frequently go for runs in the said woods contrary to doctor's advice. If I fall off, get sick or break a bone - all of which have befallen me - I will be more careful next time and serve me right. See if I care though.

At my age (62) just being alive is a risky business. But, hey, no risk, no fun. One gets the impression that they would prefer us all to stay in our beds - provided the electric blanket is checked every 3 months !

Two fingers to the lot of 'em I say !

I know nothing about the Jonathan Ross pay controversy, perhaps because I never read the papers. What I do find irksome is the number of news programmes on TV which are fronted by at least two presenters, thereby doubling the presentational salary costs at a stroke, one presumes. I have never seen the need for a man/woman combination playing verbal tennis with news items. A clear case of jobs for the boys/girls I reckon and we, the paying public, are blatantly being mugged.

When don suggested selling the jag I said he could use my car ( cos i know how much he looooooooooves his jag ) to take dogs with him so he could keep an eye on fly but he didn't want to take my lovley little mercedes a160 classic !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think this is a fab car, so nippy and smart and there would be plenty of room in the back when the back seats are down but i think being a top exec he doesn't want to be seen in my fab little car !! Lets see what happens when the volvo breaks down and a car is needed ?? I think mercedes a160 classic won't seem so bad after all !!!!!!!!!
