Went for a cycle on Saturday and cycled to Dursley and back. Total distance 23.18 miles at an average speed of10.3mph. Was very pleased with the cycle for most things.
For people who know the area Taits hill just prior to Dursley is longish and steepish. Wile I was not able to cycle up it without stopping I managed to cycle it the whle way with three stops - I was very pleased with this - simple things keep simple people happy.
All the way to Dursley I had a strong wind against me which made the cycling very difficult and slow. Again I was nearly hit twice by car drivers who for one reaon or another were ot paying attention to what was on the road
- ME.
Went to Kite n Skate in Dursley who made up a flag pole to help drivers see me in plenty of time - will add photos soon. When in the shp we had thunder and heavy rain - thought I may have to spend the night sleeping rough as I do not like cycling in the rain. Fortunately the rain stopped and I headed off back home.
Half way down Taits hill I lost my top flag - well at least I had part of it for 1 mile - money well spent!!!
Cycling along the A38 some hailstones and the wind seemed to be against me again - is that possible

When I reached the hill to Tortworth (it is 10%) I remembered the last time I was here I walked up the hill and I was nearly dead by the time I reached the top. Being brave/stupid/mad I decided that even although the wind was quite strong I decided I would not walk but cycle all the way with a few stops. By the end I had more stops than planned but did cycle all the way
- really made me feel good. Unfortunately, cycling the last mile to the house I really suffered and by the time I got home I was ready to colapse in a heap.
I ran the bath and soaked in it for ages and I felt much better.
Today, Sunday I am feeling tired and slightly stiff so am otcclin.
Suffered again from cramp in my toes, shins and calf muscles. Not sure why this is but my legs feel cold most of the time - this is not usual for me as I feel the heat al the time. I can get cramp in my toes puting or taking off my socks - how strange or does this happen to other people???
must go - keep well and stay safe.

Well done and hope aches are easing by now.
