Hi all,
Cycled to Dursley today 9.8 miles and averaged just below 10mph. This is the average speed I expected to be at on the bike so I am quite pleased. Certainly found cycling up the hills much easier than on the higher geared road bike. The down side of course is that on the flat and downhill the high gear is not so high. I guess like all things in life you can't have everything.and therefore comprises are needed.
It was a beautiful spring morning and it was good to see all the flowers out - have added a couple of pictures to my site showing the Daffs and primroses.
The bike will not be ready until Tuesday at the earliest so that is going to hold me up slightly. May ride on the road bike tomorrow but it is dependant on the weather. Vanessa has put her back out - caused by a fit of coughing!!! so not sure if she is going to be up to cycling tomorrow. Vanessa is in training for the Bristol half marathon (2nd year) but she has had so much bad luck her training is now behind schedule - still I am sure she will get back on track soon.
Cycling through Stinchcombe their is a nice well so I thought would wet my whistle - unfortunately it is not working. No doubt some Council or other has decided to turn it off "elf N safety" or something. I passed two cyclists and three people on horses - some or all who may have wished a drink. I guess in this modern age they assume everyone is in cars or carry expensive bottled water with them!!!
Must stop as I am going to start making some home made plum wine.
Take care and stay safe
Don
