  • new years eve training

 Must be mad - went for a cycle today. Usual route of 6.5 miles in a time of 00:45:15 at an average speed of 8.62 mph - not great but my excuse is the wind was averaging 32mph. Personally I think the wind speed was closer to 3000 miles per hour!!!U-(

Vanessa cycled with me today and it was good to have some company - mind you she is a lot fitter than me and also younger:roll:

Next year I will start serious training and start to eat properly - it is not very far away.

Happy New Year to one and all and I hope that all your dreams come true in 2007.

  • training run

I have eaten enough turkey and other food to put my weight up to at least 50 stone!!! I have drunk rnought wine, whiskey etc to float the Titanic!!!

Tomorrow I will start my training again. Santa brought me 2 tyres, smooth version instead of mountain bike tyres and also a wireless odometer computer - very fancy.

I will now get down to some serious training so that I am up for the challenge.

    Will keep you updated.

I am looking for sponsors to either respray the bike and or supply a Bob or Extrawheel trailer - would be obliged if anyone knows of some kind people who could help me out - thank you.

  • SPONSORED CYCLE ROUTE

I have worked the route out from Salisbury to Manchester- seems very far even for a car, never mind a home made bicycle that looks like a home made bed!!!:??::??:

    Salisbury - Devises - Calne - Malmesbury - Tetbury - Stroud - Gloucester - Worcester - Dudley - Stafford - Stoke on Trent - Chorlton - Trafford Park. This is approximately 195 miles:no:

Trafford park - Oldham - Bradford - Heywood - Blackburn. This is approximately 101 miles.

Making a total sponsored cycle of arpound 300 miles.:-/:wave:

Should have been training today - but did not go out, no doubt I will suffer for this later as mileage is important.

  • training run

Out again today doing some gentle training. Got a stitch and some cramp in my (l) calf - must be an age thing or so bloody unfit.>:-( Time for the 4.5 miles has slightly improved so I guess that is a good sign, 500 miles for the sponsored cycle still seems to be an impossible dream.

Weather was cold, dry and thankfully no bloody wind. Roads were quiet as I guess people out to church!! or whatever other heathens like me do on a sunday.

The sponsored cycle still seems an impossible dream - see details on. www.justgiving.com/donking and I would appreciate any money you can spare.

Need to go and rest now:zz:

  • Training run

Second training run - weather was cold and a slight wind. Not very fit and I was knackered at the end of it. The thought of 500 miles on a bike sounds like a c*** idea. Only cycled 6 plus miles today and at a lousy average of 8mph.

I am planning a sponsored cycle in August 2007so if you want to sponsor me go to www.justgiving.com/donking

My excuse is I am in the middle of a cold and still getting used to the bike - may need to oil and service bike as it has some funny noises coming out the back. Flg keeps blowing off so need to come up with some idea to tie it in place.
